The Best Time to Start is Now
Honestly knowing where you are now and where you want to be is the first step to progressing in any endeavor. If you are in great health already, good on ya! If not, now is the best time to start. Your body is extremely resilient, so you can steer yourself to amazing health in as little as one to three years depending on how healthy and fit you are today.
Calculating your Present True Health Age & Your Life Expectancy
The other day, serendipity guided me to a fascinating Biological Age Calculator. I was studying strength standards in different lifts, to inspire my clients to reach for higher levels of strength, and I saw a related article at the bottom of the page that was titled Health Age Questionnaire. Curiosity got the best of me, so I filled out the questionnaire, then did some further research on the subject. I filled out another similar questionnaire and especially liked the format of it. It’s the one you see below. Filling out the questionnaire took about 10 minutes and here are my results.
I was as honest as I could be answering the questions, especially the psychological questions as they are more challenging to quantify. As you can see, I got a -1 in the Psychological category. That means I lost 365 days of life due to “stinkin’ thinkin’. That’s good to know.
I need to work on decreasing self-imposed pressure, learn to create a clearer, more realistic vision of my life and craft a daily plan that supports that vision. I also need to learn how to get over my petty negative thoughts more gracefully.
That being said, it appears that my cardiovascular health, medical checkup history, personal life, diet and not being a daredevil, have added a good 20 years to my healthy life. Most likely, this questionnaire is not 100% accurate, but it’s a good way to get an estimate of where you are now and where you are heading.
