The Good News
Even if you are on a diet, there isn’t a single food that you need to avoid on Thanksgiving. I apologize for the clickbaity title; I was just messing with you.
Thanksgiving, Christmas, birthdays, weddings, and anniversaries are meant to be enjoyed, especially with those who are nearest and dearest to you. So enjoy your special day and eat until your heart’s content.
More Good News
These wonderful holidays and days of celebration are far and few between, so even if you completely overeat on these days, they have very little impact on you if you are staying on track during your normal days.
Things to Be Aware Of
If you are in the habit of checking your body weight each morning, you will most likely be surprised by the increase in body weight after a day like Thanksgiving or Christmas.
But although some of the weight increase will be due to overeating, probably the increase in sodium and/or carbs will influence the increase in body weight the most.
Realize that this is just temporary. Most likely you are retaining water from the high sodium and carb intake. It takes the food a while to pass through your digestive system as well, so give it time to move through:-)
If you return to your normal routine of eating the right quantity and quality of food, your body weight will be right back in the groove within a couple of days.
Happy Thanksgiving!! Happy Holidays!!
